During the Republic era, composers developed distinctive musical voices by exploring Anatolian melodies and rhythms through new musical forms. Ulvi Cemal Erkin’s “Sinfonia Concertante” brings piano and orchestra together as partners in a shared narrative, while his “Symphonic Movement” focuses on his orchestral writing. Ahmed Adnan Saygun’s “Ritual Dance” brings the ideas of dance and ceremony into orchestral music. Ferit Tüzün’s “Turkish Capriccio” stands out for its rhythmic vitality rooted in folk music, while “Nasreddin Hoca” places humour at the heart of its musical expression. “Çeşmebaşı”, from the “Anatolian Suite”, connects music and movement through its history of bringing village life and folk dances to the ballet stage. All three composers reinterpret their cultural heritage through the artistic sensibilities of their time. Murat Cem Orhan will conduct the orchestra, with Can Çakmur as the piano soloist.
